Ensure that you have a foundation in firearm safety education!
Knowledge of the fundamentals of pistols and pistol shooting is a foundation everyone should have. This instructor-led course using the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting curriculum introduces students to the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for owning and using a pistol safely.
Duration: 6-8 Hours
We will cover basic firearms safety, pistol parts and operation, fundamentals of pistol shooting, the basics of ammunition, malfunctions, gun cleaning and maintenance, and how to maintain your skills.

- NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting Handbook
- NRA Marksman Qualification Program Packet
- NRA Gun Safety Rules Card
- Range Time Instruction & Targets – Please note that separate range use fee may be required by the range.
- Certificate of Completion
Required Equipment:
- Hearing protection (rated for shooting sports)
- Eye protection (rated for shooting sports)
- Pistol or revolver - If you do not have a firearm, you may rent one from the range. For semi-automatic pistols, bring at least one magazine.
- Ammunition - No reloads or hand-loads allowed. If you are renting a firearm, the range may require you to purchase their ammunition for use in their rental pistol.
Prerequisites:
- All equipment used in the live-fire portion of the class is subject to approval by the instructor.
- You must be 18 years or older. For those under 18 years old, the legal parent or guardian must also attend the class.
Payment must be made in full at least one week prior to class. Course fees are non-refundable. Refunds will be issued if ATX Bull’s Eye Training cancels class due to elements out of our control, including but not limited to weather or minimum attendance not met.

Range may charge an additional use fee. Ask instructor for requirements of the host range.
